Home Again Home Again

I got back into town from a business trip last night. I spent the majority of yesterday in steel toe boots walking a job site in 40 degree weather…and I forgot gloves (lesson learned).

Needless to say, walking in the door felt mighty fine after the five hour drive back home. The Ben Bear was dancing his welcome home jig when I walked in the door and of course wanted to immediately go back out into the cold for a walk. Thankfully, LB (little brother) took him out for me. That LB- He’s a handy one. J

I think I may be turning over a new leaf. I got home and actually unpacked and put away my suitcase last night. I was astonished even as I was doing it. It is typically in the floor for a couple of days-at least until I get to the laundry or the weekend. I think getting my master bedroom pulled together is helping fuel this further need for organization. When you feel like your place looks good- you want it to stay that way. Here's another little sneak peak of the master bedroom...

Egg Houses

I’ve been challenging myself to live a more Need Focused vs. Want Focused lifestyle lately. I’m not a big spontaneous spender, but I do find that I spend my money in chunks. Mainly, whenever I am extremely busy at work and don’t make it to the grocery store, I just want to stop and get something quick and usually not healthy on my way home. I’ve also been transitioning back to a mainly paleo diet for that last week or so. I just feel better when I eat less bread, sugar and carbs (go figure) and with work and stress ramping up for the next several months,  I’m trying to prepare my body as best I can.

I came home the other night DETERMINED not to stop for take-out (for the third night in a row) and without going to the grocery. SURELY there is something to eat in the pantry. I found four almost too ripe tomatoes hanging out in the fruit basket and we always have eggs in the fridge. Add in some salt and pepper and fresh chives from the patio and voila!- breakfast (for dinner). It was delicious, easy, and paleo friendly.

Plus, I had leftovers for breakfast.
Two birds- one stone.
My kind of meal.

Egg Houses

Ingredients
Equal number eggs and tomatoes (I used 4 tennis ball size tomatoes, but they were a tad too small)
Fresh chives
2-3 slices bacon
S+P

Cut off the top of the tomatoes, carefully hollow them out.
Put one egg in each hollowed out tomato.
Bake for 25 minutes at 425 degrees.
While those are in the oven, cook 2-3 pieces of bacon.
After egg/tomatoes are done cooking, crumble bacon on top, add chives and eat.

Style: Masculine

Should I be worried that my personal and decorating style seems most closely reflected when you type 'masculine' into pinterest.

Seriously. Try it. See if you don't think 'this screams Megan'.
(Well, try it if you know me- if you don't you'll just have to take my word for it :-))

Ok.
I think I can embrace the masculinity of my style if all my spaces look this gorgeous.

Master Bedroom In Progress

Welcome to November 1st, or as some may say- the beginning of the holiday season. Who's ready to eat too much, travel far and wide, not get enough slepp and try to juggle all those holiday activites on top of your 'normal life'?

That probably came across rather negatively, but I don't mean it that way at all. I LOVE the holiday season! Thanksgiving is my favorite and I'm excited about hosting my family in Birmingham for the second time this year.

However, I've decided that November 1 to December 31 can be a bit overwhelming. It is best to get your gameplan on early. And because I am hosting Thanksgiving this year I want to finish a few projects around the house before guests arrive. Here's what in my playbook...

I have a couple of home projects going on to share with you soon (I promise)! The goal is to finish (mostly)  my master bedroom (in progress, almost done) and my guestroom (barely started) by Thanksgiving. I don't even have a bed in the guestroom so that is a major priority. I'm trying not to overthink these projects (yeah right) so I'm telling myself every day that it is 'ok' if things are not 100% finished.
Here is a sneak peak of my bedroom (this is from several weeks ago) when I was still trying to pick a paint color. My AWESOME mom came down to help me one weekend. Can you guess with color I chose???

And here is a swatch of the fabric that I am using for the one set of windows in the room. They should be finished and ready in the next week or so (so excited)! Also, you may notice the gold chair peeping into the picture above. It is one of those 'trash to treasures' Goodwill finds...expect a post about him soon. He's delicious.

I'm thinking about doing an accent pillow or two on the bed in this fabric, but I'm not set on this yet. I change my mind about every 2.5 seconds so we'll see where we land.

That's it for now! More very soon...
