For Summer Adventures

For me summer is synonymous with a lot of things:

Swimming

Picnics

Hiking

Fireworks

Lightning bugs

Cookouts

Hammocks

The list goes on and on.

But for me, this list always includes music. Summer always calls for a change in our normal routines, be it a vacation to some place exotic or simply throwing open your back doors and inviting friends and family over for a barbeque. Here is a list of summer sounding tunes which I think goes hand-in-hand with low-key summertime activities.

Cover Songs

I’ve been logging long hours at the office this week. Which means lots of good music streaming to keep me happy. I’ve been noticing several remakes of songs I really like. In several instances I enjoy the new version just as much or even more than the original. I won’t tell you which I prefer and let you decide for yourselves.

Song: of the Day

I've been in love with this album lately.

This was the first track I heard from it- so good.

But now I've made my way through the rest of the album's offerings

and maybe it is the fall weather, but I can't stop listening to the track 'Old Pine'.

I am loving the Cover Art (and the music) from the newly released album ‘Coexist’ by The xx.

Doesn’t it remind you of that great vintage lamp Jenny Komenda used in Johanna Goddard's bedroom?

It’s like a sexy oil slick (not that there is anything sexy about oil spills).

I can't believe I'll be in India in only a few short days. I am so excited to begin this journey with a great group of friends.

Holocene

I been obsessed with Bon Iver’s music ever since he released his ‘BloodBank’ EP. You may have seen him  at the Grammy’s last night (I watched for just a few minutes) but nothing compares with this music video for ‘Holocene’. Perfect for a chilly cold Monday, you can almost smell salty sea air while watching it. It makes me want a snow day- one where you bundle up and go for a walk in the silent woods...
